2018 Goals Completed

2018 was a very busy year and a lot of goals were completed. At the beginning of the year I posted a list of goals I wanted to complete and now it’s time to revisit them!

Last year’s goals and how I progressed

School

  • Finish making transcripts for my courses to send to universities.

Soooo, this went a bit by the wayside. The school ended up not needing transcripts (like I had originally thought) and asked that I take the required courses for my program online.

  • Complete uni application.

It was a long haul but the application was completed!

  • Get into the school of choice!

The most relieving moment was checking the website and seeing the offer of admission.

  • Finish off all of my high school courses!

Also, a very long haul, but eventually all of the finals were completed and I finished grade 12.

Blog

  • Get blog to 1,000 followers!

Yes!! The blog is at 1,400 right now! Thank you, everyone, for following along and reading all the posts and I hope you enjoy future posts.

  • Get the blog to make money to help out with uni costs.

The blog moved to a new home and then I was able to set up Google ads and working on other sources still.

  • Post more frequently.

I had been consistently posting until university began but making some time for blogging will be a 2019 goal!

Health and fitness

  • Run a half marathon, if I’m feeling crazy. Or a 10k is much more reasonable.

A half marathon was ambitious. But now I can run 10 km consistently so improvement there!

  • Do more ab and upper body workouts!

I’ve been working on lifting and lots of ab workouts so definitely better than last year.

  • Try other forms of exercise and sports.

Mostly, this was just to cross train from running, which I have been working on by strength training more.

  • More yoga and stretching.

I’ve actually been stretching way less than before. But this will be a 2019 goal!

Fun and creativity

  • Work on art more.

I did paint a bit more and do some drawing.

  • And photography.

Definitely lots of photography this year.

  • Travel if there are opportunities to.

YES! I went to Niagara Falls, Colorado, England, Ireland, Scotland and France. Probably the most travelling in a year I will do.

  • Make a reading list and read more.

I honestly don’t remember how much reading I did but I did read a few books.

“Adulting”

  • Get driver’s license.

I got the first level of license, G1, but I have never driven still. Since it was just a written test.

  • Budget and learn more personal finance.

I did just the other day! A post will be coming on how I budget.

Random other things completed

  • I got my braces off!
  • I met online friends, twice.
  • The blog Instagram hit over 500 followers. Woo!
  • Went to (about half) of the school orientation week.
  • Got my first job.
  • Went through my first round of university midterms and finals.
  • Went to school for the first time.
  • Tried new foods. A food photo journal from my UK trip will be coming soon.
  • Completed the SATs.

Hope everyone completed some 2018 goals and that everyone has a great New Year!

Goals Of 2018

Happy New Year, everyone! As I had said last year, I LOVE NEW YEARS GOALS! Sometimes they stress me out a bit, but I find it so pleasing when I’ve completed goals, and writing them down helps set the direction for where I want to go.

This year and this year’s motto

I have a lot of goals this year, big and small, and I think it’ll be a bit of a crazy one and definitely different from others, but I’m excited! Every year I choose a one-word motto to basically sum up the goals or overall what I’m going for in the next year. This year is going to be “contrast” or a not one-word motto of “get things done”. Work hard, but take breaks.

2018 goals

I break the goals down into different categories of my life to keep them more organized and simplified. These are a few of my major goals:

School

  • Finish making transcripts for my courses to send to universities.
  • Complete uni application.
  • Get into the school of choice!
  • Finish off all of my high school courses!

Blog

  • Get blog to 1,000 followers!
  • Get blog to make money to help out with uni costs.
  • Post more frequently.

Health and fitness

  • Run a half marathon, if I’m feeling crazy. Or a 10k is much more reasonable.
  • Do more ab and upper body workouts!
  • Try other forms of exercise and sports.
  • More yoga and stretching.

Fun and creativity

  • Work on art more.
  • And photography.
  • Travel if there are opportunities to.
  • Make a reading list and read more.

“Adulting”

  • Get driver’s license.
  • Budget and learn more personal finance.

What are some of your major goals this year? Hope everyone has an amazing 2018!!

2016/2017 Tag

Here’s another tag post that I was tagged in thanks to Jess! The tag was created by The Guy Who Said Always No. Ok, let’s start with the questions!

Questions

Describe your 2016 in 3 words.

This is kind of hard actually, I think maybe the 3 word I would use are: interesting, tiring, and good.

Write the names of 2 people who have characterised your 2016.

I met so many people in 2016 and made so many friends, it’s crazy! So I’m just going to say all my new friends as one because they made the year really fun and brought me a lot of joy, and also made it crazy lol.

And then just my close family since that’s who I spent all my time with.

Write about the most beautiful places you visited in 2016 and why you liked it so much.

To be honest, I didn’t even really leave my house that much last year, but it’s still kind of beautiful around my home!

Write about the most delicious food you tasted in 2016.

Oh my gosh, there was so much good food! I don’t know what the most delicious was but I am a sucker for brownies so I’m going to have to say it was one of the many batches of brownies I made! I went on a black bean brownie kick and made lots of those.

Write the event which has marked you most in 2016 ( even global events )

I don’t really know. Luckily a lot of the big global events didn’t really affect me, for now, or that I’m entirely aware, at least. I was afraid that I would come across a killer clown, though.

Write about the finest purchase you made in 2016 and if you want link a photo.

For my birthday I got an iPhone, it wasn’t my purchase but it was the best thing I got in 2016!

Write 3 good intentions for 2017

  • Balance my life out a bit
  • Live

One place you want to visit in 2017?

I’m kind of open to any travel, so anywhere would be cool! I’ve always wanted to go to Europe, though, if we’re dreaming big here.

One food you want to eat in 2017?

I am craving doughnuts, right now, or of course brownies.

I’m not going to tag people but please keep the tag going and fill it out, too!

The Rules

  • Use the image that you find in this article.
  • Mention the blogger who has chosen you.
  • Answer the questions.
  • Mention 9 bloggers/friends and let them know through a comment on their blog.

2016 In Music

You may have noticed the playlist at the bottom of the homepage. This is something I started doing last year and did again for this.

Music is a huge part of my life, like I don’t think I could be the slightest bit sane without it. I listen to it in the morning as a pick me up and to start the day nicely, while doing school, working out to keep me motivated and then it makes it like a dance party, pretty much listen to it all the time.
I have the weirdest taste in music, from Frank Sinatra to Beyoncé. If there’s music I like, I really like it, and probably listen to it 100 times over in a day. Then I kind of become obsessed with different styles and artists. Usually relating the lyrics to life at the time, or things I have been thinking about. In some of them just one line of lyrics make me picture vividly another world or something so I keep listening to them.
At the end of last year I made a playlist with all of the songs that I had obsessed over throughout the year or songs that made me think of certain times in the year. It kind of feels like I’m getting rid of that year and then moving on to the next with new music! Sometimes I go back and listen to the other one, too.
This year’s one is a bit of a crazy mix with lots of Alessia Cara at the start of 2016, some Meghan Trainor, Beyoncé, Lorde and Amy Winehouse towards the end. I went to see Dua Lipa and Troye Sivan so there’s quite a bit of them, too. And I’m just a tiny bit obsessed with Troye. That may be an understatement LOL
Here is the 2016 playlist! I want to know, does anyone else do anything like this?

2017 Goals

I really love goal setting, it’s probably the OCD in me that wants to take some control in life. Plus it’s so nice after accomplishing goals. And I think it helps me get closer to where I want to be in life? Or at least it makes me think I am, which is good enough.

Where I want to be in a year.

The first thing I do before setting the new goals is try to imagine where I want to be at this time next year. Where I am? What have I accomplished? Has there been major changes in my life? How do I feel? This often doesn’t actually help at all because I can barely imagine where I’m going to be tomorrow let alone a year. It also might set too high expectations, but I like to think I’m a pretty reasonable person.

For the next year I haven’t really pictured where I want to be in a year. This year I was thinking more like “If I could do this past year again, what would I do differently?” I have been craving change. I want to change lots of things this year but not go too crazy. My motto is “rebirth” and “live”.  Just improvement and change.

A few of the things I would like to accomplish over the coming year:

  1. To be less anxious. I’ve often struggled with anxiety so I would like to work on keeping it under control and managing stress.
  2. To be kinder to myself. Sometimes I just get a little too critical of myself.
  3. Enjoy being content more. It sounds kind of weird but I like being not happy sometimes or I take being content for granted.
  4. Take more risks. I’ve always been afraid of risks but there’s not a lot of fun in not taking any.
  5. Work harder on being social. It doesn’t just magically happen.
  6. Get school things organized, make a new schedule style, stay motivated, and make it more enjoyable.
  7. Get things together for university.
  8. Job shadow more and/or volunteer, get a job.
  9. Learn to drive!! I keep putting it off.
  10. Keep pushing myself in my workouts and maybe do a 5k or something like that.

Categories

I have a big binder that I write down all the goals in and can keep coming back to and see what I have accomplished and add in more. There are 12 categories I have made for myself.

  1. Health and fitness
  2. Self improvement
  3. School
  4. Career
  5. Finance
  6. Style and self care
  7. Interdependence
  8. Friends, social, relationships
  9. Creativity
  10. Fun
  11. Blog
  12. Dance

I kind of know what things I want to accomplish in each of these categories and just take a day to write out all of the goals then make a game plan to get these things done!

Game plan

This is the really hard part that I like to procrastinate! But if I’m feeling productive I’ll try to make a plan on how to complete these goals. I haven’t done this for this year yet, but it’s coming!

A couple months ago I read 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens ( Honestly really good but sometimes I couldn’t stand the cheesiness, I would definitely recommend reading it, though! ) and it was really helpful with tips on setting goals, prioritizing, and completing the goals.

I’ll be working on my goals for 2017 throughout the year, but this is how I’m going to start out. What are some of your new year’s goals?
